Built by an agent, for agents — since 2009.
Agent Text is a real estate text sign rider service. Buyers text a code from a yard sign and instantly get listing details. Agents instantly get the buyer's real mobile phone number as a lead. The same person who built the first version in 2009 still runs the company today.
The origin story
In 2009, Alfie La Peter ran a small experiment on his own yard signs. He put the office number on the sign and, right alongside it, his personal name and direct mobile number. The office line rang. His personal line didn't. Not once.
Buyers didn't want to talk to an agent. They wanted one thing: the price. They'd drive by a listing, glance at the sign, and the only question in their head was "how much?" If the answer required calling a stranger and making small talk, most just kept driving.
So Agent Text was built to give buyers what they actually want. Text a short code from the yard sign, get the price and the listing details in seconds — no call, no form, no pitch. The clever part is that by the time the buyer reads the reply, the agent already has their real mobile number as a lead. The buyer gets the price. The agent gets the lead. Everybody's happy.
A small piece of history worth telling: the very first version in 2009 also had a QR code printed on the sign rider. The problem was that in 2009, almost nobody knew what a QR code was, let alone how to scan one — so it came off the sign pretty quickly. We brought QR codes back in 2017 once phones could scan them natively, and they work the same unusual way they always did: scan the code and your phone opens a pre-filled text message, not a web form. One tap and the agent gets the buyer's real mobile number. We were a little early the first time. The rest of the industry is catching up now.
That insight is still the whole product, 17 years later. Agent Text has stayed small and founder-run on purpose: when you email, Alfie reads it; when an agent asks for a CRM integration, it usually gets built. That's not a marketing story — it's how the company actually operates.
What we believe
The buyer's phone is the product
A text comes from a real device with a real number. A form gets a fake email and a Google Voice burner. We picked the channel that gives agents something they can actually call back.
Built specifically for real estate
We're not a generic SMS platform that pivoted into real estate. Every feature — reusable codes, local area codes, CRM lead formatting, sign rider hardware — exists because an agent asked for it.
Boring, by design
No funding round, no growth-at-all-costs, no surprise pricing. Just a service that has reliably delivered leads for 17 years and intends to do the same for the next 17.
